Mold Remediation
IH Protocol &
Clearance Testing
Independent verification that the job was done right.
In Texas, significant mold remediation projects — particularly those involving insurance claims, real estate transactions, or litigation — often require a written remediation protocol from a licensed Industrial Hygienist (IH) and independent post-remediation verification (PRV) to confirm clearance. AAA Disaster Recovery coordinates with licensed IH professionals to provide protocol writing, oversight, and third-party clearance testing that satisfies insurance carriers, TDLR requirements, and legal standards.
Our Process
How We Handle It
01
Initial IH Consultation
A licensed Industrial Hygienist performs an independent assessment of the mold condition and documents findings in a formal inspection report.
02
Protocol Writing
The IH writes a project-specific remediation protocol defining containment requirements, removal scope, PPE levels, and clearance criteria.
03
Remediation Execution
AAA Disaster Recovery performs remediation per the IH-written protocol, maintaining documentation of all steps, materials, and conditions throughout the project.
04
IH Project Oversight
For larger projects, the IH may conduct site visits during remediation to verify protocol compliance and document conditions.
05
Post-Remediation Air Sampling
Upon remediation completion, the IH (or an independent party) collects post-remediation air samples and surface samples for lab analysis.
06
Clearance Report Issuance
If spore counts meet clearance criteria, the IH issues a formal clearance letter confirming the space is safe for reconstruction and occupancy.

Common Questions
FAQs
When is an IH protocol required in Texas?
Texas TDLR regulations require a mold remediation contractor to follow a written protocol for projects exceeding 25 contiguous square feet of mold growth. For insurance claims and real estate transactions, IH oversight is strongly recommended regardless of size.
What is post-remediation verification (PRV)?
PRV is an independent air and surface sampling process conducted after remediation to confirm that spore counts have returned to normal background levels. It is the final quality check that proves the remediation was successful.
Does my insurance require a clearance letter?
Many insurance carriers require a third-party clearance letter before releasing final payment on a mold remediation claim. We coordinate this documentation proactively so there are no delays in claim settlement.
Are you the same company that writes the protocol and does the remediation?
No — and this is an important distinction. The IH who writes the protocol and performs clearance testing is an independent party, not AAA Disaster Recovery. This independence is required by TDLR and provides unbiased verification that work met the protocol standard.
Need IH Protocol or Clearance Testing?
We coordinate full IH oversight and independent clearance testing across Austin, Round Rock, Cedar Park, and surrounding areas.
